The spring season of March and April is one of the most beautiful around the Vale of Kashmir and among the hills, with the blooming of meadow flowers, iris and news leaves and the trees laden with blossom. After June and to the end of August it can be disconcertingly hot. Mosquitoes are whining around and the center of the lake seems the only way to keep comparatively cool and perhaps escape being bitten. The end of August sees the Vale very full indeed. Indian tourists come in their droves. Houseboats are crowded, the lake water are churned up with water skiing. The shops will be full and the Kashmir traders, it is like an extended harvest festival.
The monsoon breaks in July and August but the Vale of Kashmir is protected from all but the fiercest rains by the Pit Panjal range of the mountains. There are .however, frequent thunder storms, but they pass quickly and in so doing bring drama to scenery and produce fantastic sunsets.

There is autumn season, by October, the leaves on the chenar trees will be starting to turn fold and the fantastic red that seems to set fire to the surrounding hills and Mughal Gardens. The saffron plants do not bloom until November so that few visitors are around to see this glorious sight.

The winter set in from late November when snow fall will cover the Valley and the southern areas around Jammu with deep layer of snow that will last until the first thaws the following February.
